To generate ideas for my DPS i did the same as what I'd done for the other pages, and I looked through the same genre of magazines, again to keep the consistency, I then deconstructed two double page spreads to find the ideologies and see what the target audience were appealed too.

The major changes that I made to my DPS was that I added in an introduction to the article, and then i created columns, and myself and my teacher decided that I should fade down the opacity of one of my pictures and put writing over it. I then added in an arrow to make up space, and have the effect of something else to interest the readers.

From when we first started our preliminary task, till when we finished our Music Magazine, I feel that I have progressed a lot, in the use of Photoshop especially, I feel that I have learnt more skills within the software, such as the effects that you can put on the text and the picture, also how to use different fonts which will suit the genre better, and stand out from the rest of the text. I feel that after I had deconstructed front pages, contents pages and double page spreads I had more of an idea how to set out my magazine pages, these acted as a template of which I could use to plan out my pages, one thing I took from one of the double page spreads was an arrow that was used, I used an arrow but in a different context, I used it for showing the success of my artist. Also after doing these constructions I had more of an idea of what I could include in the magazine therefore I knew what I wanted to write in y questionnaire, I wrote a more in depth questionnaire which got more me more answers which I could incorporate into my magazine pages. Also summarising my results helped me find out what the majority of people wanted to see, and therefore I knew what I had to include, what parts where the most important to the readers. Therefore looking back at my preliminary task I feel that I have progressed a lot and that my final product shows what I have learnt and if I had more time, and had more skills in Photoshop and also getting the feedback that I did I could improve even more, but for now I feel that my pages show a good representation of my target audience, and also of my progression within the software's of which I have used.
Whilst doing this project I used a variety of different technologies. The main one that I used was Photoshop, I had never used this software before and therefore it was interesting to find out how to navigate around it. There are a lot of interesting tools on Photoshop which were helpful for this project. I quickly learnt how to cut out the photos, and put them onto my pages easily. Another tool which I found helpful was the effects tool which I could use on the text and the pictures, for one of the pictures I put the Opacity down on it and then put the text over it. This made it easier to fit everything on the page, and easier to read the text, I felt it gave a good effect. I feel that I have learnt a useful skill by being taught how to use Photo shop, as I feel I know enough to be able to use it again in the future. When we went to do the photo shoot, I had never taken pictures like that before, I had only taken photos, on a small digital camera, and that was for fun and not anything important or complex. Once we were shown all the buttons we needed it soon came naturally and so now I feel that if I'm required to use a camera like that in the future, I will be able to do so with ease. This Blogger software I had never used before either, I feel that it is a little confusing, especially when I first started using it I didn't know which buttons to press, and I would end up pressing the wrong button and it would lead me to somewhere I didn't want. However I have used it a couple of times now and I feel that I have got better, and it is a little less confusing, however i don't think that I would choose to use it again, because it is confusing, a Little complicated and hard to navigate, therefore I wouldn't recommend it. Overall I think that I have learnt a few extra skills, which could be used in the future.
To attract my target audience I created a questionnaire before I started my pages, this was so that I could find out what sort of people would want to read my magazine, and what they would like me to put into it. In this questionnaire I included questions such as what colours would they like to see and if they would want competitions to take part in. I then summarised my results and found that most people would pay for the magazine at 1.50. I found out what the colours were that they preferred, these are the colours which I have used. I then found out things, such as their favourite fast food restaurant and if they used social networking sites, also the genre of films they watch and mainly the type of music they listen to.
I constructed my magazine to appeal to my target audience by finding out whether they like to read articles, which are gossip about the artist, or if they prefer interviews, they preferred interviews, therefore that is what I did. I also used an R'n'B artist to suit the genre, and the poses that I got her to do suited both R'n'B and Indie. Also other articles in my magazine which are shown on the contents page are gig and concert adverts, also fashion articles, for people who like festivals as it says about what famous people wore at those festivals. I included these because I know from my results that this is the type of thing that R'n'B and Indie Fans are into.
Once I had completed my pages I created another questionnaire, this was asking questions about the pages and how the target audience felt about them, I showed 15 people the pictures and questionnaires, and only one person out of that said that they wouldn't by the magazine, and that was because they weren't into that sort of mix of music.
One 'Yes' response

One 'No' response

I then summarised the findings that I got from this questionnaire, these are the findings:
The audience for my magazine are people between the ages of 14-20. Their favoured genres of a music magazine are R'n'B and Indie music, so I have chosen to use both of these genres to attract a wider audience. The audience like reading interviews with artists' as they find these more interesting to read. They are people who like to go to festivals and gigs, which is why there will be advertisements for gigs and festivals in my magazine.
They also like entering competitions on the website, where they can win prizes, or just do the quizzes on the quiz pages in the back of the magazine. I found out that my target audience like to shop in places such as Topshop and Topman, and that is where the majority shop, this means that I can put Topshop and Topman clothes adverts in my magazine. Other places they like to shop are H&M and Zara. The genre of films that the audience like are comedy's, 'Chick Flicks' and romantic comedy's. This means that I can put this genre of film adverts in my magazine.
These people are the audience for my music magazine because that is what the majority of the people asked wanted from the questionnaire, which means the majority of people asked will buy it because it is what attracts them to buy a music magazine.
