Attracting Target Audience

To attract my target audience I created a questionnaire before I started my pages, this was so that I could find out what sort of people would want to read my magazine, and what they would like me to put into it. In this questionnaire I included questions such as what colours would they like to see and if they would want competitions to take part in. I then summarised my results and found that most people would pay for the magazine at 1.50. I found out what the colours were that they preferred, these are the colours which I have used. I then found out things, such as their favourite fast food restaurant and if they used social networking sites, also the genre of films they watch and mainly the type of music they listen to.

I constructed my magazine to appeal to my target audience by finding out whether they like to read articles, which are gossip about the artist, or if they prefer interviews, they preferred interviews, therefore that is what I did. I also used an R'n'B artist to suit the genre, and the poses that I got her to do suited both R'n'B and Indie. Also other articles in my magazine which are shown on the contents page are gig and concert adverts, also fashion articles, for people who like festivals as it says about what famous people wore at those festivals. I included these because I know from my results that this is the type of thing that R'n'B and Indie Fans are into.

Once I had completed my pages I created another questionnaire, this was asking questions about the pages and how the target audience felt about them, I showed 15 people the pictures and questionnaires, and only one person out of that said that they wouldn't by the magazine, and that was because they weren't into that sort of mix of music.

One 'Yes' response

One 'No' response

I then summarised the findings that I got from this questionnaire, these are the findings:
